NCCCS BioNetwork - NCCCS BioNetwork is a statewide initiative that connects community colleges across North Carolina to develop a world-class work-force for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. It provides specialized training, curricula and equipment. All community colleges serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector are part of BioNetwork.
North Carolina Association for Biomedical Research (NCABR) - The mission of NCABR is to promote public understanding and support for bioscience research. There are resources for educators, students, organizations, the general public, and the media. This is also a membership organization.
North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO) - NCBIO is the trade association & public advocacy group for the N.C. Bioscience Industry, and is the state-level affiliate of the national Biotech-nology Industry Organization. It collaborates with other nonprofit organizations and trade associations to strengthen the bioscience industry, and is an important advocate for expanded educational and research opportunities for N.C. students.
North Carolina Biotechnology Center - This is a must-go-to site. The North Carolina Biotechnology Center is the world’s first state-funded entity dedicated to developing the biotechnology industry. For 25 years, the Center has worked statewide building a firm foundation of research, business, education and policy. So far, North Carolina's biotech economic impact includes 226,823 jobs, $12.7 billion in employee compensation, and an industry with over 500 companies. See economic reports. North Carolina Board of Science and Technology (NCBST) - As a State-authorized advisory board under the N.C. Department of Com-merce, NCBST encourages, promotes, and supports scientific, engineering, & industrial research applica-tions in North Carolina. The N.C. Biotech Center and the N.C. School of Science and Mathematics were launched by the Board. It also administers two grant programs, One North Carolina Small Business Program and North Carolina Green Business Fund.
Research ParksGateway University Research Park - Located in the Greensboro area, this Research Park is a joint research campus being developed in collaboration with North Carolina A&T State University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Its goal is to develop state-of-the-art research facilities for cutting-edge work in the life and physical sciences, engineering, technology and other applied science areas. It will develop two 75-acre campuses.
North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) - Located in Kannapolis (near Charlotte), this research park was created by David Murdock, the owner of Dole Food Company, Inc. NCRC is a private-public venture created to foster collaboration and further advancements in the fields of biotechnology, nutrition and health. At the NCRC, universities and private businesses have the opportunity to test, explore and advance scientific knowledge across a variety of disciplines.
Piedmont Triad Research Park (PTRP) - PTRP, in Winston-Salem, is a research park that is set in a unique urban environment and supports life science and information technology research and development. It is being built around a new bio-medical campus for Wake Forest University Health Sciences.
The Research Triangle Park (RTP) - Located in the heart of the Raleigh-Durham-Cary area, RTP is one of the oldest and largest science parks in North America. It is home to more than 170 companies with over 42,000 full-time knowledge workers & an estimated 10,000 contract employees. RTP is a globally prominent, high-technology research and development center that serves as an economic driver for the region.
